Cobh Youth Services is currently seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Charity Shop Retail Assistant to join our team at Restore Charity Shop in Cobh. This is a great opportunity to work in a friendly, community-focused environment while supporting an important cause.
All proceeds from the Restore charity shop support the services, programmes and activities provided for children and young people attending Cobh Youth Services.
The shop is managed by volunteers and supported by the Cobh Youth and Social Project Community Employment Scheme.
Job Title: Part-Time Charity Shop Assistant – 14 hours per week
Role Summary:
To provide excellent customer service, process donated goods, maintain shop standards, and support the Retail Manager in daily operations, contributing to the charity's fundraising goals and community engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
• Customer Service: Greet customers, answer questions about the charity, assist with purchases, and handle donor queries.
• Till Operations: Operate the cash register, process sales (cash/card), handle cash accurately, and assist with cashing up.
• Donation Processing: Sort, clean (steam/iron), tag, price, and prepare donated clothes, books, and bric-a-brac for sale.
• Stock Management: Replenish stock on the shop floor, maintain stockroom organization, and rotate older items.
• Visual Merchandising: Create attractive product displays and maintain a neat, tidy, and presentable shop environment.
• General Duties: Perform cleaning, tidying, and other tasks as assigned by the manager, ensuring health & safety compliance.
Skills & Experience:
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and show initiative.
• Trustworthy, flexible, and reliable.
• Attention to detail and good organizational skills.
• Basic literacy and numeracy.
Working Environment:
• A friendly, community-focused atmosphere.
• Collaborative work with other staff and volunteers.
• Opportunity to learn about retail and support a good cause.
